― Mary Oliver, Thirst
Join us in keeping this much needed conversation about death alive. This “Death Cafe” style conversation is open ended, free flowing, and organic. From Advanced Directives to honoring our ancestors. From home funerals and green burials to artistic expressions of grief. Let’s gather as a community and delve deeper into the topic of death and all of its facets.
This event is open to anyone. This is a vulnerable topic – so feel free to express your feelings. Bring your poetry. Bring your wisdom. Bring your knowledge. Bring your tears. But most of all – bring an open mind.
And yes. Cupcakes will be served.
Have questions? Feel free to reach out to us at email@example.com
ABOUT DEATH CAFE:
Death Cafes are part of a global movement. The idea was born from the writings of Bernard Crettaz, a Swiss sociologist who said talking about death leads to authenticity.
At a Death Cafe the community gathers to discuss life and death, with a serving of tea and cake. The objective is to raise awareness through open conversation about a topic that remains deeply taboo. The idea is “to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of our (finite) lives.”
During Death and Cupcakes, we’ll discuss death, celebrate life and enjoy time together. This gathering is open to the community. It is a group-directed discussion of issues about death and dying, with no agenda, objectives, or themes. This is a discussion group, not a grief support or educational seminar. We aim to talk about death, enhance life, and of course, eat cake.
Death Cafes are not-for- profit, and held in a respectful, confidential, safe space. There is no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product, or course of action.
