Located at the SEEDS at 706 Gilbert St. Durham, NC.

Does a self-sufficient garden sound like something you’d like? What about something you’d love… Then meet permaculture – a design system that will help you work with what you’ve already got in a landscape to create a self-sufficient food forest. In this workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of permaculture and have the opportunity to work with a few examples.
We’ll cover David Holmgren’s principles, as well as the ideologies of some of the big designers like Hemenway and Lawton. You will leave with a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of permaculture design, as well as knowing whether you’d like to take the next step and enroll in a Permaculture Design Course or what ideas you’d like to focus on as you continue to expand your education.
A Primer on Permaculture includes a tour of the SEEDS facility and garden. Coffee and snacks will certainly be served!
This workshop (or an equivalent course) is a prerequisite for our Social Permaculture workshop, which will be taught on Sunday, April 24th.
Pre-registration is required.
