Bikes and Barnyards Summer Camp
An Abundance NC Youth Camp with Triangle Bikeworks
Monday, June 13 (8 AM) thru Friday, June 17 (5 PM)
Meet at Triangle Bikeworks at 115 W. Main St in Carrboro.
Get Ready to Roll June 13th!
The 2016 Summer Bike Camp takes place the week after school lets out and is about as much fun as you can possibly have on a bike!
We’re partnering with Triangle Bikeworks to create opportunities for young people to learn and practice lessons in leadership, health and wellness. Kids will be given the chance to experience achievement and environmental stewardship through bicycle related education.
Love to ride your bike? Looking for a challenge? Want to learn new skills and have a blast with new friends? If you are between ages 10 and 14 and a beginning to intermediate cyclist, then this camp is for you!
We’ll meet each morning at 8:00 AM and begin activities by 9:00 AM. The day wraps up with pickup at 5:00 PM. Except for Thursday night! That’s when we’ll spend the night at Jordon Lake camping out under the stars.
Days begin with basic skills work such as shifting and braking, and progress to corning, navigating obstacles and safe cycling before applying all of those new-found techniques on fun, single track trails and bike lanes.
After two days of learning, laughing, and riding, we will move to the Piedmont Biofarm with Abundance NC to learn the right way to mess around in the woods; be a good steward of the forest, ecosystems and nature, and learn to cook! Thursday we’ll ride to our hearts’ content and camp out under the stars – even preparing a meal over the camp fire.
After this camp we bet you’ll never want to go a day without riding your bike again!
This camp is Open to Everyone
