Brew Your Own! The History, Healthfulness, & Production of Kombucha

May 2, 2015

$35

an Abundance DIY Sustainability Workshop with Grant Ruhlman
Saturday, May 2nd, 9am-12pm

Located at the Perch Studios, Carrboro, NC.

Are you interested in brewing your own kombucha?  Have you attempted it but haven’t quite gotten the flavor or effervescence you’re seeking?  Join Grant Ruhlman, a local kombucha crafter based in Durham, to learn the history and methods involved with this delicious and healthy super beverage. Grant has been brewing kombucha for over two years, and currently offers a small CSA-styled kombucha subscription in the Triangle.

During this workshop, you will learn some of the history and lore of this ancient “beverage of immortality.”  We’ll talk about kombucha’s pH-balancing properties and the probiotic goodness it contains.  Most importantly, you’ll get step-by-step instructions detailing the process, flavoring, and conditioning of a yummy brew.  You’ll also get hands on experience bottling, and learn all the necessary materials to start a small home brew system of your own.

Register online:

Pre-registration is required. Registration includes a take-home mother starting kit, instructional pamphlet, and Grant’s contact info. For this workshop, Abundance offers one work/trade position (email us).
