Departs from The Plant in Pittsboro
A Luxury Bus will travel to local economy hotspots as part of our upcoming Money and Meaning Gathering! At TS Designs in Burlington, tour guests will learn about Cotton of the Carolinas, the master of supply chain transparency. They will tour a textile plant in America – see their chickens, their waste water recovery, and take a look at the eco-system they have created to print T-shirts for Good.
The Lux-Bus will then travel to the famous destination village of Saxapahaw on the banks of the Haw River for a tour of Haw River Farm House Ales, Left Bank Butchery, and the Saxapahaw Rivermill. See how a defunct mill town transformed itself through local enterprise. And don’t be surprised if a life sized puppet wanders by as Saxapahaw is also home to the world renown Paperhand Puppet Intervention.
Tour guests will enjoy a delicious farm-to-table lunch catered by the Saxapahaw General Store – “your local five-star gas station.” A feast of “food consciously selected, locally grown & lovingly prepared.”
Then they head back to the Plant for more Money and Meaning festivities – a Slow Money Marketplace, an Entrepreneur Showcase, keynote by Slow Money founder, Woody Tasch, and an evening of more great food, music, and fine beverages.
