We’ll go through a crash course detailing what Kombucha is, its history and interesting spread from China to the West, and the health benefits of this “remedy for immortality.” From there, we’ll discuss the ingredients, materials, and process to brewing, flavoring, and bottling your own Kombucha. This section will include a hands-on mixing of a starter kit to grow your own “SCOBY” mother.
There will also be a tasting and a time for question & answer and socializing.

About the instructor:
Grant Ruhlman studied Natural Resource Management and Environmental Studies at UNCW before working at Piedmont Biofarm and Edible Earthscapes in Chatham County. He now lives in Durham and works for the Durham Public Schools “hub” farm.
