The Familiar Supper Club Benefit for Slow Money NC
Sunday, November 8, 2015
6:30 PM to 9:30 PM (EST)
Piedmont Restaurant, Durham, NC
Come and join Chefs John Childers and Evan Sheridan as they collaborate with Chef Greg Gettles of Piedmont Restaurant (Durham, NC) for an autumnal revelry in North Carolina’s bounty. For the second in what is sure to be many events in the piedmont region, the Familiar Supper Club will be presenting “Pumpk(Hen)”- a Sunday Supper Celebration.
Of course no dinner is complete without quality provisions and this one is special. The chicken will be provided by Coon Rock Farm (Hillsbourough, NC.) The Pumpkin provided by Root Down Farm (Cedar Grove, NC.) And (if we are lucky) we will be graced by the presence of the farmers who will be more than happy, we’re sure, to “blow their own horns.” We will also be joined by Fullsteam Brewery (Durham, NC) who will be pouring some painstakingly brewed seasonal beers to pair with the culinary offerings. Supper will commence promptly at 6:30 with a cocktail reception complete with passed canapes, and a signature autumn cocktail made with care and developed in tandem with Crude Bitters (Raleigh, NC.)
A portion of The Familiar’s proceeds will benefit Slow Money NC to advocate for a cleaner, more sustainable food system in North Carolina. Slow Money NC lets you reconnect with a portion of the money that you entrusted to strangers in faraway places and, instead, help build a more local, durable economy from the soil up! When you make a loan to a farmer or other local food enterprises so they can expand and flourish, you can truly enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Be sure to arrive hungry and plan on an amazing night in the company of friends and family.
