Social Permaculture

April 11, 2015

$30

an Abundance DIY Sustainability Workshop with Laurel Shulman and Liane Salgado
Saturday, April 11, 1pm-4pm

Located at Perch Studios, 204 W Main St., Carrboro, NC.

Have you noticed that many projects, start-ups, small businesses and wonderful ideas go off the rails because of human dynamics? This workshop will work to illuminate the people side of system design – sharing patterns, solutions and questions.
The group will link permaculture/sustainable design principles to social dynamics, identify familiar people-problems and collaborate to formulate effective solutions. At the end of this session, we hope that each participant can apply the template to new examples and discover rich questions that will yield ideas after they leave.
This is an advanced workshop– participants should come to the workshop with a working familiarity with permaculture / sustainable design / sustainable agriculture / LEED certification.

About the instructors:

Laurel Shulman is a cheese maker, writer, dancer, permaculturist, lover of lists and would make everything with her hands if she had the time. Abundance NC appeals to her wild sense of gratitude for the North Carolina community and all of the experiences in it. Originally from Florida, she has lived in North Carolina for almost 6 years and spends most of her time in Durham with her man and dog, who has recently learned how to “pound it.”

Liane Salgado grew up in Chapel Hill and left to study ecology, local plants, medicinal plants, sustainable living and permaculture. She is currently developing a community permaculture center, as well as supporting social and urban permaculture. She makes many fermented foods and has taught workshops with Carrboro Greenspace and NCBG. She also does GIS and technical writing for conservation non-profits and local businesses.
