Abundance is proud to be a part of RAFI’s 2014 Crop Hop. Last year was a good old fashion square dance with great food, great drink and great company. Join us in Saxapahaw!
100% of the proceeds from the event will benefit RAFI’s Farm Sustainability program and our work on behalf of family farmers. The link for tickets is coming soon!
RAFI’s 2nd Annual Crop Hop
Book your calendars for Sunday, October 19th! We don’t want y’all to miss out on the fun at RAFI’s 2nd Annual Crop Hop at the Haw River Ballroom. From 6:00-10:00 p.m., we’ll be puttin’ on our boots once again to do a little square dancing and celebrate family farms!
This year, the Crop Hop promises to provide even more fun and entertainment for all! Our location has changed to the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, NC to accommodate an even larger crowd than the 300+ from last year’s Crop Hop. And just like last year, we’ll still have live music and performances, a live auction and locally sourced light hors d’oeuvres and micro-brews.
In addition, we are also offering new and exciting items in our live auction and raffle. Some of these donations include passes to Disney World, a year’s supply of Counter Culture Coffee and some dazzling kitchen appliances. For a bigger preview you can see a list of auction items on our website RAFI, USA Crop Hop). Not only do these make great holiday gifts, but you’ll feel great knowing that 100% of your donation will go towards RAFI’s Farm Sustainability Program.
Dancing, drinking and bidding aside, the goal of this event is to show support for family farmers by connecting advocates of sustainable agriculture, while providing the opportunity for partner companies to promote their businesses among like-minded attendees. Again, all proceeds of this event will benefit RAFI’s Farm Sustainability Program, which is comprised of our work assisting family farmers in financial crisis.
Through this program, our financial farm counselors provide financial assistance when it’s needed most. They meet farmers out in their fields and attend meetings at their side. Sitting across the table from a banker or a loan officer is frequently confusing and often intimidating, especially when the farm is on the line. Since the farm crisis of the 1980s, we have helped farmers navigate the maze of regulations that govern agriculture and access to farm credit. Our farm advocates work hard to help farmers become more credit-worthy and sustainable. Since 2010, we’ve assisted more than 250 farmers, preserving approximately $50+ million in farm assets.
However, in order to continue this work we need your help. Please bring along your friends and family to this exciting event and show your support for family farmers by dancing away with the Undermand String Band, The Outboards, The Piedmont Regulators and square dance caller, Aaron Ratcliffe, with his live band!
Event Sponsors include: Organic Valley, Haw River Ballroom, Saxapahaw General Store, First Citizens Bank and Sow True Seed.
