Mission:
To respect and pay our due to the environment we live in by educating those who may be effected by hydraulic fracturing or fracking stimulation of natural gas wells.

Deep River Clean Water Society is a group of NC citizens, students, nurses, well drillers, families, farmers, bikers, welders, lawyers, aldermen, businesspeople, and children who love and are grateful for the water that nourishes our lives. We live in the Deep River Shale basin of NC, an 150 mile area that stretches from South Granville County to Lee, Rockingham and Anson. We began this group to educate others about the high risks of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, that is looming in NC. Please begin your education on this issue. We invite you to join with us today.

Do you live in the Deep River Shale Basin of NC? It spans more than what is considered a river basin. look at the map from NC Geological Survey. Gas companies are buying up mineral rights from landowners all over this area, and heavily lobbying the NC legislature. There are major risks to our quality of life, drinking water, recreation lakes, rivers and streams, as well as livestock from the waste water and solid wastes from such industry. With technology advancing for less destructive types of renewable energy sources, we believe that the risk of fracking for natural gas outweighs the benefits.
