2015 Climate Conference

On February 5th, 2015, we continued our conversation on how to adapt farming strategies to climate change. The 3nd Annual Farming Adaptation Conference educated and empowered North Carolina farmers on issues of . We discussed impacts of climate change on agriculture, climate risk and variability on seed-saving, politics, seasonal extensions, hard data and spiritual coping, as well as permaculture solutions to climate change.

Our keynote speaker was Peter Bane, a permaculture teacher and site designer who has published and edited Permaculture Activist magazine for over 20 years. He helped create Earthaven Ecovillage in North Carolina, and is pioneering suburban farming in Bloomington, Indiana. Peter is the author of The Permaculture Handbook. Amuse Bouche: a Pre-conference networking event at Fearrington Barn on Feb 6th. A Sampling of Perspectives on Climate Adaptation with NPR’s Frank Stasio.
Break out sessions for in-depth analysis of specific issue for large scale, medium, and backyard farmers along with foodshed activists.
